Stefan identified him as vampire hunters and they have to deal with it. This new stranger is a dangerous vampire hunter which Stefan sensed right away. If this is the case then Elena must be in danger. Since Elena is a new vampire, she loss her control over the party gathering. She lost control with her blood lust. Luckily Caroline came out and help her.
Previously, Caroline and Rebekah ended up sharing some important moments of bonding. While Stefan and Damon felt weird about the sudden turned of events.
